Builder bows on new infill, old pins on porches
A Petworth rekey is either a brand-new infill slab whose builder bow may match the house beside it, or an original porch door whose pins have not been touched in decades. Walk the basement hatch with us. It is the cylinder people leave off the list.
On this visit
Infill houses in Petworth shipped with a builder key that may match the house next door. We treat that as urgent. Bring the builder key even if you plan to throw it away. We use it once, then it dies.
Frequent questions
The builder left two keys. Is that enough to rekey?
Yes, if those keys currently work. We still want to see every door, not only the front.
How far north is the shop's drive?
Fifteen to twenty-five minutes from Adams Morgan, depending on Georgia Avenue.
