King Street exits and yard lobbies
Alexandria exit devices are Old Town assembly or shop exits and newer lobby stairs near Potomac Yard. Historic stiles are narrow. Garages are the park.
On this visit
King Street stiles are narrow and old. We will not hang a device that splits them. If the leaf has to be replaced, that is a different project and we stop before drilling. Potomac Yard stairs take a modern listed device instead.
Frequent questions
The historic board cares about the street door. Can the exit hardware be discreet?
Often, with the right device and finish. It still has to release in one motion. Looks do not replace that.
Where do you stage?
A garage. We carry the device to the door. King Street is not a work lane.
