Cars at meters, not in driveways
Vehicle lockouts here happen at meters on Columbia Road and 18th Street. There is no driveway to work in, and a bus lane is not a bay. The showroom is on the block, which helps, but the car still has to be somewhere we can legally stand. The hill toward Woodley Park is a common place people realize the fob is in the cup holder.
On this visit
Meters on 18th Street are not a bay. If your car is in a bus zone, say the meter number and stay on the sidewalk. We open it only from a legal stance, after you show you control it, and we do not program a fob on the curb.
Frequent questions
I am in a bus zone. Should I wait there?
No. If you can get the car to a legal curb, do that only if you can do it safely. Otherwise tell us the exact meter.
Is this part of the opening discount?
No. Automotive lockouts are emergency work and are excluded.
