This is emergency work. Call (202) 900-5625. It is outside the grand opening discount.
A vehicle opened without a scratch being the method
An automotive lockout is entry to a specific car, truck, or van when the keys are inside. The first step is proof you control that vehicle. Paint and glass are protected before a wedge, a long-reach tool, a door-panel tool, or an air bag is chosen. The least invasive method that will work on that model is the one used. After the door is open, the lock is checked so we did not leave it worse than we found it.
Call when the key is locked in the cabin and you are with the vehicle. Do not send a friend with no paperwork and expect the door to be opened. This is not a house rekey and it is not a transponder programming job. If the key is lost rather than locked inside, say so, because the tools and the price are different.
Ownership, paint, and the alarm that is not a house lock
Included is the ownership check, the entry, and a look at the lock we touched. Not included is cutting a chip key, repairing an ignition, or paying a parking ticket. Painted jambs, a shocked alarm, a broken regulator, and the wrong vehicle in a row of similar cars are the mistakes this sequence is built to avoid. The shop's ownership check and a no-damage approach are the rules.
Downtown DC garages and Maryland commuter lots often mean the vehicle is tight against a column. Virginia residential driveways are easier on the paint but the alarm is just as loud. We identify the vehicle from the paperwork and the VIN situation you can show, not from a color and a wave across the deck.
Frequent questions
What counts as proof you control the vehicle?
Registration, a title, an insurance card that matches, or a lease in your name, plus a photo ID. A story about borrowing a friend's car, with nothing on paper, stops the job.
Why not just wedge every door the same way?
Some doors hide an airbag or a regulator that a careless rod will break. The model decides the tool. A wedge without protection is how a painted jamb gets a permanent scar.
If the alarm sounds, did the opening go wrong?
Often the alarm is doing its job because the door opened without the fob. We still check that we did not shock a module or leave a panel clip on the ground. The alarm noise itself is not the damage.
Can you cut a new key while you are at the curb?
Not as part of a lockout. If the key is inside, the lockout ends when you have that key. A lost key that must be cut and programmed is quoted as its own visit.
