Closers on a steep shop strip
Mount Pleasant doors sit on a grade. A closer set on flat ground will misbehave on this hill. There is no Metro. We arrive by a short ride or the bus and keep the visit contained to the doorway.
On this visit
Because the Mount Pleasant strip is on a grade, a door can run open by itself. The closer has to overcome that grade without making the door impossible for the person carrying groceries.
Frequent questions
The door flies open on its own. What is that?
The hill plus a weak or backwards closer. We reset it. We do not prop the door as the fix.
