New owners, old contractor keys
Shaw high-security cylinders are a post-renovation reset. The people who carried keys during the remodel should not carry them after you move in. U Street is the transit. Daytime is the right appointment.
On this visit
After a Shaw remodel, the contractor keyway ends. The backup cylinder inside a new keypad is included, or their key still works. The card is yours on settlement day, not theirs.
Frequent questions
The contractor wants to keep a key for warranty visits. Should they?
Only if you will be home or you have a written reason. Otherwise they call and we cut a temporary with your approval.
When after settlement?
As soon as you control the house. Call ahead so we are not guessing the closing.
