Safes left by the remodel
Shaw safe jobs are often a safe the seller left in a renovated rowhouse. Ownership has to be clear after settlement. Stairs are typical rowhouse stairs. We come in daylight, not during the U Street crush.
On this visit
A locked safe left after a Shaw settlement is opened only when it is clear you control it. If the seller still knows the combination, changing it is better than drilling. You check what is inside. We do not.
Frequent questions
The seller lost the combination and left the safe. Who calls?
Whoever currently controls the house, with papers. If the seller still owns the safe, they should be the one authorizing the open.
Can you change the combination the same day?
If the lock allows a change and the open was clean, yes. You record the new number.
