Level hardware replaces the inside of a compatible deadbolt. The host deadbolt is checked against the compatibility list. Thickness is confirmed. The bolt is calibrated. A mechanical key remains. An incompatible deadbolt, a tight bore, a blocked battery door, and an app installed with no key left behind are the ways this product gets blamed for a bad match.

Thickness, the battery door, and an app that is not a key
The fit check, calibration, and a key you can use are the visit. Drywall repair from a wrong bore is not. The compatibility list and the measured thickness decide. We do not machine a random deadbolt until a Level Bolt sort of fits.
Thick historic doors in DC often miss the listed thickness even when the deadbolt brand is familiar. We measure before the box is opened. Newer Maryland and Virginia slabs are more likely to match, and they still fail if a storm door blocks the battery cover. The key is handed over even if the app paired on the first try.

What if my deadbolt brand is close to a listed one?
Close is not listed. The bolt tail and the bore are specific. We compare the model, and if it is absent from the list the Level stays in the box.
Why calibrate instead of trusting the motor?
The throw has to meet the strike on that door, not on a bench. Calibration is the bolt extending fully and retracting without grinding the paint stack.
Do you delete the app login when you leave?
The login is yours. We make sure you can open it and that a key also works. We do not keep your account.
What does a blocked battery door mean a year later?
You cannot change the cells without taking the door apart. We look for that interference now, while the install can still move a strike or a closer shoe.
