Yale deadbolts and Assure locks installed to the door, with a key left behind
Yale service checks compatibility, installs the strike into structure, enrolls the app if the lock is an Assure, and leaves a mechanical key. The wrong module, weak Wi-Fi at the slab, short screws, and no key are the usual callbacks. The drilling guide is followed. A lever and a deadbolt bought as a pair are keyed and finished as a pair.
Use this when the hardware is Yale. A generic smart-lock visit is the wrong fit guide. Bring the module you already bought if this is an Assure retrofit, because the wrong module is a common unopened-box surprise.
Modules, Wi-Fi, short screws, and a strike that was skipped
Compatibility, the strike, enrollment, and a key are included. A mesh Wi-Fi system is not. Yale's guide and the backup key are the standard. We do not enroll the app and leave with the only key still in our pocket.
Assure locks get blamed for radios when the strike was never reinforced and the bolt is dragging. We do the strike and the radio as separate checks. Short screws in a soft jamb are replaced with screws that reach structure. If the module does not match the deadbolt, it goes back in the box and the correct one is named.
Frequent questions
How do you catch the wrong Assure module before it is installed?
The module and the deadbolt model are compared to the fit list. A module that seats physically can still be the wrong radio or the wrong tail. The list wins over the fact that the screws lined up.
Where is Yale Wi-Fi tested?
At the mounted lock. A strong signal on a phone in the room is not the test. Brick and metal change it. If the lock cannot join, the keypad and the key are still confirmed, and the network limit is stated.
Why replace short strike screws on a new install?
The screws in the box are sometimes too short for anything but the jamb skin. If they do not reach structure, we use screws that do. A new lock with a weak strike is not a finished Yale install.
Do you leave before the mechanical key is tried?
No. The key is tried and handed to you. App enrollment is additional. It is not a substitute for the key.
