One hardware set: lock, closer, hinge, and stop, written down
A hardware package is a schedule for a single opening. The lockset, closer, hinge, and stop are chosen together so the drilling layout does not put a closer shoe through a lock prep. The set is written, the layout is checked, the door is prepped once, and the opening is labeled. Mixed finishes, a layout clash, a missing stop, and the wrong hand are the ways a 'complete set' arrives and still will not assemble.
Use this when you are fitting out a suite and you want one coherent door instead of four separate purchases. A single deadbolt on a house is a smaller visit. Bring the hand of the door and the finish you already committed to on the adjacent openings.
Finish, hand, and a drilling layout that does not collide
The deliverable is a written set, one prep, and a labeled opening. It is not an interior-design package for the whole floor. BHMA grades are how we describe the duty of each item. The hardware schedule is the page the next technician should be able to read. We do not mix satin chrome and black on the same leaf unless you asked for that contrast.
Tenant fit-outs in DC and Northern Virginia often inherit a landlord finish. We match it or we tell you the landlord will reject the door. A stop that was left off the list is how the closer arm punches the wall in the first week.
Frequent questions
Why write a hardware set instead of just ordering a lock?
The closer, the hinge, and the stop change the prep. Ordering the lock alone is how the closer shoe lands on the lock cylinder. The set is the thing that fits.
What does door hand change on the order?
The lock hand, the closer arm, and sometimes the stop. A right-hand lock on a left-hand door can be forced on and will never feel right. We confirm hand from the pull side before anything is prepped.
Can finishes be mixed if the lock I like only comes in black?
Yes, if you choose it. Accidental mixing is what we prevent. The schedule lists the finish of each piece so the cart and the door agree.
Who is the label on the opening for?
The person who will service it later, including us. A door with no mark becomes a guess the next time a closer leaks. The label names the set.
