Fobs enrolled to a person, with a revoke that actually sticks
A fob is a credential with a name. Enrollment is by person. Revoke is tested. A lost-fob step exists. Shared fobs are avoided. The reader, the controller, and even the lanyard are mundane parts of the same problem: an unnamed fob, a copied number, a lost fob that still opens the door, and a reader out of range.
Order fobs when specific people need them and you can name those people. A keypad code for a whole crew is the keyless-entry conversation. Bring the list of names. 'Five fobs' is not a list.
Readers, range, and the unnamed fob in the junk drawer
Enrollment, a revoke test, and a lost-fob step are included. Designing your org chart is not. Your credential policy and UL 294 on the reader are the boundaries. We will not clone a fob onto a second person to save a programming seat.
Condo lobbies and small offices in the area pass fobs around during move-in and then cannot kill the one that walked away. Each fob in this visit gets a name. A reader that only works if you press the fob to the glass is a range problem, and we show you that at the door rather than in the package.
Frequent questions
Why refuse a shared fob for the weekend staff?
When it disappears you cannot know who had it, so you cannot judge the revoke. Two named fobs cost less than a lockout of the whole weekend crew.
How do you test revoke without stranding someone?
We kill a test fob or the lost one while a known-good fob is still in hand at the door. The dead one is presented. If it opens, the controller did not take the change.
What is a copied fob number?
Two credentials the controller thinks are one person, or a clone of a number that should have been unique. We do not make those. Each enrollment is its own record.
The fob works in the office and not at the lobby. Why?
Range, metal, or a reader that was never paired to that controller. We test at the lobby, not at the programming desk, and we say which of those three it was.
