Mul-T-Lock cylinders cut only for a registered holder
Mul-T-Lock work checks registration before a key is cut. The MT5+ or the platform you actually have is confirmed. The key is cut for the holder on the card. The cylinder is set. The key is logged. An unregistered cut, mixed platforms, a cam error, and a lost card stop the job or change it into a registration recovery.
Book it when the cylinder is already Mul-T-Lock or you have chosen that registration. Bring the card and a sample key if one exists. A Medeco card will not help here.
MT5+, the registration card, and a cam that is not 'close enough'
Registration check, an authorized cut, cylinder install, and a log line are the work. A duplicate for a friend who is not on the card is not. UL 437, when listed, and the registration card are the rules. Platforms are not mixed to use up pins from the other kit.
A building can own both an older interactive cylinder and a newer MT5+ and assume the pins are cousins. They are not. We identify the platform from the key and the card before the plug is emptied. A cam that almost seats in the mortise is replaced with the one that does.
Frequent questions
What stops an unregistered Mul-T-Lock key from being cut?
The card and the registration. No card, no cut. We do not take a verbal description of the card as a stand-in.
Can older interactive pins service an MT5+ cylinder?
No. The platforms stay in their own kits. Mixing them produces a key that inserts and a cylinder that fails. Identification comes before the pin tray opens.
What does a cam error feel like?
The key turns and the mortise does not throw, or it throws and the key will not come back cleanly. The cam is matched to the case. Filing the cam is not the repair.
Who is the holder on the card?
The person or the company the registration names. A new employee gets a key only if that holder authorizes it. The employee alone, with no card, is not the holder.
